How did you come to find out about Healthy Leaders and what were you aiming to accomplish when enrolling on the programme?

Through Natwest Bank. Invited to breakfast meeting/seminar. I was aiming to improve my own health and wellbeing and create a better culture at work.

Have your goals and priorities shifted during the process?

Yes. In work, through placing emphasis on accountability, engaging with the team in regular meetings, sharing problems, developing ideas, strategies and team objectives. On a personal level, I’ve set goals for losing weight and improving fitness.

What has been the most surprising outcome during your time working towards being a Healthy Leader?

At first, I was surprised at a feeling of complacency and lack of accountability amongst the staff. Now, I’m pleasantly surprised by the engagement of the whole time in the change process and the positive change in the atmosphere of the office.

Can you pinpoint what the biggest change has been in either your physical or mental health?

I’ve lost over a stone in weight and generally feel more energetic and positive.

How has this impacted on those around you? at work or home.

At work, all the biscuits, crisps and chocolates have disappeared from the office and have been replaces with a fruit bowl (not my idea). At home, my wife has joined me in changing our eating habits and has also dropped a stone in weight. My two sons are happy to see their parents taking health more seriously. LIFE IS GOOD.

How did you come to find out about Healthy Leaders and what were you aiming to accomplish when enrolling on the programme?

I attended a seminar. I recognised that having gone through a particular difficult time in my life both personally and within my work environment, I was not functioning to the best of my ability which was affecting my decisions to the detriment of both home and work life. Through Philips presentation I felt that he could assist me in regaining confidence in myself and focus on the business in a more professional manner.

Have your goals and priorities shifted during the process?

My goals and priorities have definitely shifted. I am now truly working on the Business rather than getting over involved in the Business.

What has been the most surprising outcome during your time working towards being a Healthy Leader?

My ability to achieve in areas I have previously shied away from

Can you pinpoint what the biggest change has been in either your physical or mental health?

I now have the ability to allow myself to be proud of myself and what I have achieved so far, I am generally healthier and look after myself better. I now deal with difficult situations without getting stressed out about it.

How has this impacted on those around you? at work or home.

I remember many years ago my mum saying “look after yourself first and your children will be fine. If you are not ok then they sense it and are not ok either” the reaction from my family has been great, they can see that I am now back in control of life in general and my employees are more motivated, committed and generally happier in their work, which has lead to a more stable foundation in which we all are working hard to build on.

Philip has, through his chats, suggestions and setting me tasks to do between visits, contributed a great deal to my personal wellbeing, my professionalism and general focus. As a result the respect and admiration from those who know me is more paramount now than ever before.

Thank you Philip 🙂 I look forward to moving on and upwards with you.

How did you come to find out about Healthy Leaders and what were you aiming to accomplish when enrolling on the programme?

I had worked with Philip previously and wanted to work with him again.

Have your goals and priorities shifted during the process?

The end goal is still the same but I have had to pivot the goals and priorities as I have gone along to cater for ‘bumps in the road’.

What has been the most surprising outcome during your time working towards being a Healthy Leader?

How much more alert and focussed I am when I am in a better physical state and how important nutrition is to my wellbeing, not just going into the gym regularly.

Can you pinpoint what the biggest change has been in either your physical or mental health?

I have been happy with how much my self esteem has improved as my physique has improved and my mental alertness is much better now. I can certainly tell the difference in my mental state more if I occasionally do step back into the bad ways.

How has this impacted on those around you? at work or home.

I think that they have seen me to be more productive in all aspects of my life as I have the energy to achieve more.

The meetings and the work I have done with Philip has really helped, it’s given me context, helped me reflect, challenged me and above all given me confidence that I have ability and the skills to perform.

I have to say I am more relaxed and happier that I have been for a long time.
